This specimen was lot 1354 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "BURMA: Patriotic Liberation Army, AV 4 mu, ND (1970-71), peacock // name of U Nu, Burmese nationalist leader, NGC graded MS67." Burma saw Japanese occupation during World War II, after which the British granted it independence. In 1962 a military junta took over and eventually reformed the country as a socialist enterprise, renamed Myanmar. Since then the country has only slowly emerged from extreme isolation.
