Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle 1673-RD 1/24 thaler
This specimen was lot 5620 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €260 (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, FÜRSTENTUM, Georg Wilhelm, 1665-1705. 1/24 Taler 1673, Celle. RR Vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Erworben 1975 von der Firma Laugwitz & Co. Berlin. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle, George William, 1665-1705, 1/24 thaler of 1673 Celle mint. Very rare, extremely fine.)"
In the seventeenth century, 24 groschen = one thaler. On George William's death in 1705, the line lapsed and the territory passed to Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg.
