British West Africa 1920-H 1/2 penny

British West Africa comprised Gambia, Sierra Leone, Gold Coast (now Ghana) and Nigeria. The union broke up in the late fifties as the parts were granted independence. Copper-nickel half pennies were issued for the region starting in 1911. This type was issued 1912-1936.

Recorded mintage: 26,285,000.

Specification: copper-nickel, 25.2 mm diameter.
