British North Borneo is today known as Sabah and is a state of Malaysia. In the nineteenth century, half cents and cents were issued for the colony fron the Heaton Mint. Twenty five cent pieces were issued in 1929 only and are fairly scarce. The second specimen was part of lot 22163 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $488.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Commonwealth Six Coin Grouping, ...25 Cents 1929. The 2 1/2 Cents is VF, the rest are AU or UNC." The third specimen was lot 3956 in Goldberg sale 80 (Los Angeles, June 2014), where it sold for $270.25. The catalog description[2] noted, "British North Borneo. 25 Cents, 1929-H. National arms with supporters. One year type. Scarce. NGC graded MS-62."

Recorded mintage: 400,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 2.83 g, 0.500 fine silver.
