This specimen was lot 23311 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Proof Fourpence 1925, KM29, PR63 NGC, unlisted as a Proof, ex South Africa Mint duplicates private sale. Lacquered as many museum coins have been. Deep mirror surfaces with lightly frosted bust. Hard to discern if all the hairlines are in the lacquer or are some in the coin but to find a 1925 4 pence in UNC is virtually as rare as a Proof, regardless of what the catalogue suggests. From The Ted Reams Collection." This type is noted for 1917-36 and was struck to the standard of a British homeland four pence, then only struck for the Maundy sets. The previous type (KM 28) stated "BRITISH GUIANA AND WEST INDIES" on the reverse. All the dates are scarce in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: 30,000.

Specification: 1.88 g, 0.925 fine silver, 17 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 29.
