Bremen 1744-MF 2 thaler Dav-2050
This specimen was lot 724 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,561 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BREMEN, STADT, Doppelter Reichstaler 1744, mit Titel Karls VII. RR Feine Patina, winz. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schönes Exemplar. (Germany, city of Bremen, double thaler of 1744, struck in the name of Charles VII. Rare, nice patina, planchet defects, very fine example.)"
This is the last double thaler from this locale. It was struck for the pretender Charles VII, the last serious challenger to the Hapsburg claim to be Holy Roman Emperor. It was accompanied by a single thaler (Dav-2049).
