Künker sale 386, lot 5239
city and archbishopric of Bremen in 1648

This specimen was lot 5239 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €900 (about US$1,163 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BREMEN, STADT, Reichstaler 1650, mit Titel Ferdinands III. Attraktives Exemplar mit hübscher Patina, winz. Randfehler, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Gehard Hirsch 62, München 1969, Nr. 1051. (city of Bremen, thaler of 1650, struck in the name of Ferdinand III. Attractive example with fine patina, small edge flaws, very fine to extremely fine.)"

All of the thalers of this Hanseatic city prior to the nineteenth century are rare to very rare. This issue was accompanied by a half thaler (KM 115) and a double thaler (Dav-5101A).
