In 1867 the silver coinage of Brazil was redesigned to adopt the portrait of the emperor Pedro II, who already appeared on the gold coinage. This type was struck 1867-69; similar coins were issued until the fall of the empire in 1889. The prior type with the value obverse (KM 464) also exists for 1867.
