This silver 100 réis was minted 1834-48 in Rio de Janeiro, with 1834, 1835, 1837 and 1846 being the reasonably available dates. The series came accompanied by 200 réis, 400 réis, 800 réis and 1200 réis in silver. The specimen was lot 20554 in Heritage sale 3009 (Chicago, April 2010), where it sold for $1,725. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II 100 Reis 1848, XF Details, lightly cleaned with minor obverse marks. A very rare issue, with a mintage of only 486 pieces."
