This specimen was lot 23977 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $4,993.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "João VI gold 6400 Reis 1820-R, AU Details - Repaired NGC. Seems to be ex-jewelry with mount removed at 12 o'clock. a classic rarity from the last days of colonial Brazil. From The RLM Collection, Part II." The type was struck 1818-22 with the portrait of João as king. All the dates are scarce to rare.
