This specimen was lot 30310 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $123.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 960 Reis, 1816-B. NGC AU-58. Struck over a Spain 1814-SCJ 8 Reales. Light attractive toning." This silver 960 réis was minted at the Bahia mint 1810-17. These coins were usually struck over Spanish-American dollars but many other undertypes are known.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
