This specimen was lot 23207 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 6400 Reis 1774B, MS61 NGC, sharply struck and fully lustrous, light surface marks." The type was struck in Rio KM 172.2) and Bahia 1751-77. The Bahia mint issues are generally scarcer than the Rio issues.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
