This specimen was lot 23803 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 6400 Reis 1772-B, Uncirculated Details - Surface Hairlines NGC. A bold representative with die rust in the obverse and reverse fields. From The RLM Collection, Part II." This type was struck 1751-77 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil.
