Silver 160 réis as a denomination are somewhat scarce and tho this date struck in Lisbon is listed as common, it is seldom seen. This coin would have traded in the 18th century as one-sixth of a Spanish dollar. The type was issued 1768-76 from Lisbon as would the rest of the 160 réis until 1810. Varieties exist in the position of the legend on the reverse.

Recorded mintage: 94,000.

Specification: 4.45 g, 0.917 fine silver.
