This specimen was lot 23204 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I 640 Reis 1758B, nice toned VF with gray and blue-green patina, scarce one-year type with the King's name spelled JOSEPHUS. From The Santana Collection of 640 Reis." This type was struck 1751-55 at Rio (KM 170.1), 1752-56 at Lisbon (KM 170.2) and 1757-58 at Bahia (KM 170.3 and 170.4, shown here).
