This specimen was lot 29121 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 6400 Reis 1753-B MS64 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint. Very Choice Uncirculated with frosty surfaces and sharp details. The limited adjustment marks are essentially inconsequential and do not affect this example's superior eye-appeal. Rare and quite desirable in this select preservation." This type was struck 1751-77 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil.
