This specimen was lot 20053 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 6,400 Reis, 1745-B. Joao V (1706-50). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details Secure Holder. Better mint than the more commonly seen Rio mint mark. Lightly cleaned with a few scattered marks otherwise quite a wholesome example with luster in the protected areas." This type was struck 1731-50 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil, altho Bahia mint issues are scarcer and of lower quality than those of Rio.
