This specimen was lot 1142 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $2990. The catalog description[1] noted, "1730 400 reis. Minas Gerais mint. MS-64 (NGC). Small laureated head of João V to right/crown above date, legends below. Bright and lustrous yellow gold, reflective and beautiful, a real gem. Rare in this condition. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942."

This type was struck in Minas Gerais 1730-34 and in Rio in 1734.

Specification: .89 g, 0.917 fine gold, .026 troy oz AGW; this specimen: 0.90 grams, 13.30 mm diameter.
