This type was struck in Brandenburg 1653-55. It is the first schilling listed in the SCWC but this denomination (equal to 1/32 of a thaler) was struck steadily to the end of the eighteenth century in ever decreasing amounts of silver. The coin was converted to pure copper in 1790.

Recorded mintage: 5,595,000.

Specification: silver, probably billon.
