Brandenburg-Bayreuth 1760-CLR thaler Dav-2037
This specimen was lot 246 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €340 (about US$458 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG IN FRANKEN. Friedrich, 1735-1763. Konv.-Taler 1760, Bayreuth. Ohne Stempelschneidersignatur unter dem Armabschnitt und der Orden hängt frei. Slg. Grüber (Auktion Künker 267) 3880. Sehr schön. (margraviate of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, Frederick, 1735-63, convention thaler of 1760, Bayreuth mint, without engraver's initials below bust. Very fine.)"
The line lapsed in 1791 and the provinces fell to Prussia, who in turn yielded them to Bavaria in 1806 as part of Napoleon's mediatization. This one year type is one of several issued in 1760.
