This specimen was lot 22543 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brandenburg-Ansbach. 1/6 Taler, 1676. Johann Friedrich (1667-86). NGC MS-63. Fully lustrous and highly dished in appearance due to its striking with roller dies." This type was struck 1676-79 along with a 1/3 thaler (KM 56) and 2/3 thaler (KM 79, 80). Brandenburg-Ansbach is in Franconia and was ruled by a different branch of the Hohenzollerns than that in Berlin.
