This specimen was lot 47553 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPANISH NETHERLANDS. Brabant. Ducaton (3 Gulden), 1638. Antwerp Mint; mm: hand. Philip IV. NGC AU-58." The regular type, issued 1636-65 from Antwerp (with hand mintmark) and Brussels, is scarce but not rare. The multiple ducatons, which include double and quadruple issues, are all rare. Triple ducatons of this portrait were struck intermittently 1637-57. The other provinces issued this type, including Artois, Flanders, Tournai and Luxembourg.
