This specimen was lot 660 in Jean Elsen sale 161 (Brussels, March 2025), where it sold for €650 (about US$846 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Albert et Isabelle (1598-1621), AV double albertin, 1609, Anvers. D/ Écu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. R/ Croix de Bourgogne accostée de la date, sous une couronne, ornée du bijou de la Toison d'or. Rare. Rogné. (duchy of Brabant, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, gold double albertin of 1609, Antwerp mint. Obverse: crowned arms, order of the Golden Fleece around; reverse: Burgundian cross divides the date; above, a crown, adorned with the jewels of the Golden Fleece. Rare, clipped, Fine - Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1600-11 as part of a short lived monetary reform. The albertin d'or was two-thirds of a ducat. The double albertin d'or is shown here. It was replaced after 1612 by the souverain d'or. Albert and Isabella were regents for Philip III in the Netherlands.

Recorded mintage: 1,746,219 for 1600-11.

Specification: 5.15 g, 0.895 fine gold, 28 mm diameter, this specimen is 4,88 g.
