Brabant 1574(h) ecu Dav-8634
This specimen was lot 1015 in Jean Elsen sale 151 (Brussels, June 2022), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$2,998 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRABANT, Duché, Philippe II (1555-1598), AR écu Philippe, 1574, Anvers. D/ B. cuir. à g. R/ Ecu couronné sur une croix de Bourgogne, entre deux briquets, portant le bijou de la Toison d'or. Flan large. Belle patine. Très Beau à Superbe. Provient de notre vente 63, 16 septembre 2000, 1867. (duchy of Brabant, Philip II, 1555-98, silver écu Philippe of 1574, Antwerp mint. Obverse: armored bust left, reverse: crowned arms over a Burgundian cross, between two firesteels, Order of the Golden Fleece around. Large flan, nice toning, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"
