Stephen Album sale 50, lot 2598

This specimen was lot 2598 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOMBAY PRESIDENCY: AE half anna, 1834//AH1249, small English letters (Stevens type III), XF, ex Solar Collection." The type was struck in 1834, most likely at the Soho mint, in tall and small letter varieties. Prior to the introduction of milled coinage in 1835, the East India Company struck imitations of local designs.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: 12.95 g, copper.
