Sincona sale 47, lot 1987

This specimen was lot 1987 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 575 CHF (about US$690 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Heiliges Romisch Reich, Ferdinand I. 1521-1564. Halbtaler 1547, Joachimsthal. Münzmeister Rupprecht Puellacher. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Korrodiert. (Holy Roman Empire, Austria, Ferdinand I, 1521-64, half thaler of 1547, Joachimsthal mint, mintmaster Rupprecht Puellacher. Very rare, Very fine, Corroded.)"

This type is a product of the Joachimsthal mint in Bohemia, where the thaler was invented.
