This specimen was lot 1110 in Goldberg Sale 146 (Los Angeles, July 2025), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bohemia. Prag Groschen, ND. George of Podebrady, 1457-1471. Pop 1; The only one graded at PCGS. PCGS graded EF-45. The Augustana Collection." George of Poděbrady (b. 1420, r. 1458-71) is considered the last native Czech to rule as king of Bohemia. He attempted, over papal objection, to mediate peace between the Hussites and the Catholics. He also fought off attempts by Matthias Corvinus, king of Hungary and margrave of Moravia, to seize Bohemia. Altho he left several sons on his death, the crown of Bohemia went to Vladislaus II, son of the king of Poland. The first prager groschen was introduced around 1300 by Wenceslaus II and weighed 3.5 g, 0.933 fine silver. Each succeeding ruler debased it slightly.
