This specimen was lot 2485 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "BINDRABAN: AR rupee, Islamabad (Mathura), year 29, in the name of Shah Alam II, XF." This rupee was struck in the name of the Mughal emperor at the Bindraban mint during years 18, 23, 26-30 and 34. Varieties (KM 40.2, 40.3) with a slightly different mintmark are noted for year 35. Year 29 rupees should be dated AH 1202 ("۱۲۰۲"), according to the SCWC. The Marathas operated over thirty mints in India at this time but it is not clear if they were responsible for this issue.
