Belize was formerly known as British Honduras. Great Britain expressed willingness to grant independence prior to 1981 but the English-speaking locals were nervous about occasional threats from Guatemala to invade and annex the territory. This specimen is one of a type struck for Belize 1990-2000. It features Colombus's three ships on the reverse.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: nickel-brass, designed by Robert Elderton, decahedral.

Catalog reference: KM 99.
