This specimen was lot 887 in Jean Elsen sale 148 (Brussels, September 2021), where it sold for €675 (about US$957 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Albert II (1993-2013), AV 100 euro, 2008. 50e anniversaire de l'exposition universelle de Bruxelles. Ecrin et certificat. Flan poli. (kingdom of Belgium, Albert II, 1993-2013, gold hundred euro of 2008, for the 50th anniversary of the Brussels exposition. With capsule and certificate. Proof.)"
Half ounce commemorative gold coins (100 euro denomination) were struck for different topics 2002-14 and, prior to that, in the 5,000 franc denomination.
