Bavaria 1904-D 10 mark
This specimen was lot 2727 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,926 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, BAYERN Otto II., 1886-1913. 10 Mark 1904. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 191, Osanbrück 2011, Nr. 6119. (kingdom of Bavaria, Otto II, 1886-1913, ten mark of 1904. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
Under the German Empire of 1871-1918, the denominations of two mark and up were permitted for the formerly independent principalities while the lower denominations (one pfennig thru one mark) were minted to a unified design. The gold ten mark were issued in this design 1900-12 and are quite a bit more common than the twenty mark.
Recorded mintage: 210,112 plus a few proofs.
