Künker sale 406, lot 3934

This specimen was lot 3934 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,706 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BAYERN, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, Maximilian I. 1598-1651. Dukat 1642, München. GOLD. Leicht gewellt, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian I, 1598-1651, ducat of 1642, Munich mint. Slightly wavy, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1642-47 and tho not cheap, is more available than other Bavarian ducats of the seventeenth century.
