This specimen is the first coin issued by Barbados as part of the F.A.O. series and the only Barbadian coin of that denomination. Barbados in the Caribbean is not usually considered to be in need of food aid but its economy has suffered since the collapse of its sugar plantations in the mid-nineteenth century.
Recorded mintage: 30,000.
