This specimen was lot 71122 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Bamberg. 4 Kreuzer (Batzen), 1700-GFN. Lother Franz. NGC MS-63. Deeply toned in rich multicolored hues with abundant luster appearing in the fields." This was the only issue of this denomination from this ecclesiastical state in the eighteenth century. It was previously struck in 1696 and 1698. The four kreuzer or batzen was a denomination popular in Switzerland.
