Bahrain 1969 250 fils rev 600.jpg

Bahrain, an island in the Persian Gulf between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, was long a protectorate of Great Britain. The first coins issued for the sheikhdom are dated 1965 and the state became fully independent in 1971. This coin was issued as an F.A.O. commemorative and likely did not see much circulation. Most specimens available to collectors today were removed from F.A.O. sets sold in the early 1970's.

Recorded mintage: 50,000.

Specification: copper-nickel.

Catalog reference: KM 7.
