This specimen was lot 1317 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "BAHRAIN: Isa Bin Salman, 1961-1999, AV 50 dinars, 1978//AH1398, NGC graded PF63 UC, S." This design, commemorating an event of stupefying insignificance, was also used on KM 12 (gold 100 dinars). Bahrain, an island in the Persian Gulf between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, was long a protectorate of Great Britain. The first coins issued for the sheikhdom are dated 1965 and the state became fully independent in 1971.

Recorded mintage: 5,000.

Specification: 15.98 g, 0.917 fine gold (same standard as a British gold two pounds).
