This specimen was lot 38570 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Awadh. Rupee, AH 1232 Year 26 (1816/17). Muhammadabad Banaras Mint. Shah Alam II. NGC MS-65." This type was struck AH 1201-1234 with the frozen regnal date 26, referring to the distant and powerless Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. The actual ruler was Ghazi ud-Din Haidar, nawab wazir of Awadh 1814-18 and king 1818-27.
