This specimen was lot 625 in Jean Elsen sale 132 (Brussels, March 2017), where it sold for €80 (about US$101 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Innocent XII (1691-1700), (Antonio Pignatelli), AR douzième d'écu, 1692, Avignon. Pietro Ottoboni, cardinal légat. D/ B. à d. R/ Monogramme PCL. Rare. Beau à Très Beau. (France, Pontifical State, Innocent XII (1691-1700), silver twelfth écu of 1692, Avignon mint. Obverse: bust to right; reverse: monogram. Rare, fine to very fine.)"

This is one of three different twelfth écus issued 1692-93, all scarce. It was the first issue from Avignon, a papal enclave in southern France since the luigino last issued 1667.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
