This type was struck in 1970 to commemorate the centennial of the birth of Franz Lehar. Wikipedia comments, "Franz Lehár (1870-1948) was an Austro-Hungarian composer. He is mainly known for his operettas, of which the most successful and best known is The Merry Widow (Die lustige Witwe)." Austria began minting euros in 2002, rendering this coin obsolete. In 1982, US$1 = 16.7 schilling.

Recorded mintage: 1,660,900 plus 139,100 proofs.

Specification: 13 g, 0.800 fine silver, 30 mm diameter, lettered edge.
