Austria 1970 10 schilling rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck 1957-73 and has little collector value except for some of the early proofs. It fell victim to rising silver prices and was converted to copper-nickel in 1974 (KM 2918). The obverse features a woman wearing the traditional bonnet of the Wachau valley. Austria began minting euros in 2002, rendering this coin obsolete. In 1982, US$1 = 16.7 schilling.

Recorded mintage: 4,493,000 plus 89,100 proofs.

Specification: 7.5 g, 0.640 fine silver, 27 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 2882.
