This specimen was lot 42057 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $5,002. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 4 Ducats, 1908. Vienna Mint. Franz Joseph I. PCGS MS-62 Prooflike. A lovely Prooflike specimen that shimmers and sheens when held in the light, with only modest chattering consistent for the grade, and a rich bounty of unspoiled luster." This type was struck 1872-1915 in substantial numbers but the 1915 restrike is most commonly seen.
