The first specimen was lot 4257 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$168 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"AUSTRIA, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916 Doppelgulden 1891. Wien. Gutes vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, double gulden of 1891, Vienna mint. Good extremely fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 2972 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$486 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. 2 Gulden 1891, Wien. Gutes vorzüglich. Feine Patina. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, double gulden of 1891, Vienna mint. Good extremely fine, Nicely toned.)"
The double florin superseded the old thaler and was struck 1859-92 with various busts of Franz Josef.
