Künker sale 406, lot 3877

This specimen was lot 3877 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €8,500 (about US$11,153 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz I. 1804-1835. 4 Dukaten 1815, A, Wien. 13,76 g Feingold. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 62+ (4776497-009). GOLD. Vorzüglich/vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (empire of Austria, Francis I, 1804-35, four ducats of 1815, Vienna mint. Graded NGC MS-62+, extremely fine or better.)"

Unlike the single ducat, which was issued from several branch mints, this type was struck 1811-15 at Vienna only.
