Stack's Bowers May 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 32093

This specimen was lot 32093 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Holy Roman Empire. Kreuzer, 1746. Vienna Mint. Maria Theresa. PCGS MS-62. Quite elusive in Mint State, this Kreuzer delivers good toning and bright central luster, and strong details throughout." This type was struck 1746-55 and is very common in circulated condition. Other kreuzer for 1746 include KM 1719 and KM 2008 (Francis I). It was during the reign of Maria Theresia that the convention thaler (120 kreuzer) superseded the reichs thaler (90 kreuzer).
