Künker sale 423, lot 117

This specimen was lot 117 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €42,000 (about US$59,472 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Erzherzog Ferdinand Karl, 1632-1662. 3 Dukaten 1642, Hall. FERDIN : CAROL · D : G : ARCHID : AV : D : B : COM : TIROL : Der geharnischte Erzherzog mit Kommandostab reitet r., darunter die Stadtansicht von Innsbruck, unten die Jahreszahl 1642, am rechten Hinterhuf die Signatur HA (Hans Amende)//DIVVS · LEOPOL - DVS · 2 · DVCA : Der Heilige Leopold steht v. v. mit der Fahne von Alt-Österreich und Kirchenmodell, umher 14 Wappenschilde. GOLD. Von allergrößter Seltenheit. Vermutlich einziges Exemplar in Privatbesitz. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Münzen & Medaillen Deutschland 25, Stuttgart 2007, Nr. 2255. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke Ferdinand Charles, 1632-62, triple ducat of 1642, Hall mint. Obverse: the mounted archduke rides right, holding a baton, view of Innsbruck below with the date; reverse: Saint Leopold stands facing front with the flag of Old Austria and a model of a church, surrounded by 14 coats of arms. Perhaps the only example in private hands, extremely fine.)"

This are issue was accompanied by a double ducat (Fr-247). Frieberg notes that it was restruck in 1963.
