This specimen was lot 808 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$381 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Ferdinand I. 1521-1564. Taler 1545, Linz. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand I, 1521-64, Very rare, About Very Fine.)"
This particular type, struck 1542-45 at Linz, is a very early thaler; the joachimsthaler is the ancestor of our dollar. The date, engraved in front of Ferdinand's face, is nearly illegible on this example.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 28.63 g.
