This specimen was lot 37500 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Penny, 1952. Melbourne Mint. George VI. PCGS MS-65 Red." This type was struck 1949-52 and this date is common in all grades although the proofs are rare. It is a modification of the previous type (KM 36) by deleting ":IND:IMP." from the king's titles. The Perth mint product has a dot after "AUSTRALIA".
Recorded mintage: 12,408,000 plus 45,514,000 from Perth (with •).
