Australia 1913 penny

from the Stack's Bowers 2017 ANA sale, lot 20132

This specimen was lot 20132 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Penny, 1913. NGC MS-64 RB. Sharply struck with a fair amount of original mint color. Nice surfaces and good eye appeal." The silver coinage for Australia commenced in 1910 but bronze pennies and halfpennies were not struck until 1911. As such, none were struck with the effigy of Edward VII. This product of the London mint is common but expensive in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: 2,520,000, including wide and narrow date.
