from Künker sale 352, lot 1733

This specimen was lot 1733 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUGSBURG, STADT, 1/2 Dukat 1750, auf die Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts. GOLD. RR Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, [[German States, Augsburg|city of Augsburg], half ducat of 1750, on completing half of the eighteenth century. Rare, choice example, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This one year type is rather scarce. We are puzzled by the topic. It may be connected with a New Year celebration.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.75 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 1,74 g.

Catalog reference: KM 163, Fr-105; Forster 121 (listed in silver).
