SB826-43098r.jpg

This specimen was lot 43098 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $89. The catalog description[1] noted, "ARUBA. Silver Colorized 5 Florins, 2017. Utrecht Mint. Willem-Alexander. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Prikichi." Aruba, along with Curaçao and Bonaire, lies off the shore of Venezuela in the Caribbean. For centuries a colony of the Netherlands, agitation for independence began in the 1970's as locals resented perceived domination by Curaçao. Arubans voted for independence in 1986, to be granted in 1996, but the process was halted when the oil refinery there closed, halving government revenue. Prikichi is the local dialect name for the brown-throated parakeet (Eupsittula pertinax arubensis), found in Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama and Brazil.

Recorded mintage: 550.

Specification: 25 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38 mm diameter, edge lettered DIOS * TA * CU * NOS *.

Catalog reference: KM-64.
